Hello OLA Members! I am more than excited to share with everyone that registration for the OLA Pulse Check is now open. Please click the link below so that you can be taken to the Member Portal page to register. Everyone will be sent a link to the Pulse Check soon, but set your calendars to be available during July 28th at 8pm EST. Please keep in mind that we can only have this event available if we have at least 20 registrations by July 26th. If we have even one less registration than desired, then we will not commence with the Pulse Check. This requirement is set in order to respect the time of our panelists in preparation of the Pulse Check. https://members.latinoactuaries.org/events/register.aspx?id=1765484 In order to sweeten the pot for this event, we have decided to have this event count towards points for RLP members. It will be 7 for attendees and 10+ points for an RLP member to be a moderator. For those in OLA Academy, this will fulfill your interview prep requirement ONLY IF you have done a mock interview beforehand. It’s easy points and a fun way to knock out that requirement, so please, help us make it easier for you. For those who haven’t been to a Pulse Check, it is a time to join your fellow OLA peers and take advantage of an exclusive topic that isn’t talked about much within the actuarial profession. In this edition of the Pulse Check, we will discuss what happens before, during, AND after the interview for any actuarial position in this year’s Pulse Check segment called “Demystifying the Interview Process”. During this time, interviewers from OLA’s PMs/Board will discuss how they personally contemplate an interviewees and how each of their respective teams come to a final agreement about who the cream of the crop is. This is an exclusive opportunity to take advantage of since there is only advice given about being the best interviewee. If you’re a junior or senior in college or even a recent grad that graduated this spring semester, the Pulse Check is perfect in preparation for hiring season this fall. For many, having concrete evidence about why that is the case is almost unheard of… until now. We will love to see you there! I would like to stress that this event is all for you, with serious questions that us OLA representatives are more than happy to answer, so please, respond to this email with any and all questions about the interview process. We will be consider the best questions to be asked during the Pulse Check. If you have trouble registering, please reach out to events@latinoactuaries.org, and we will be more than happy to help.
