OVERVIEW
The Organization of Latino Actuaries (OLA) is excited to announce the launch of the OLA Rising Leaders Program (RLP) Application for the 2025-2026 Participation Period! The RLP is open to all OLA members currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree*.
The RLP provides a channel for highly proactive and involved OLA members to engage with other members, corporate sponsors, and other industry professionals in order to develop their leadership skills and build/maintain a sense of community even after
their completion of OLA Academy and obtaining their first actuarial role.
We hope that the RLP will become a source for OLA’s leadership pipeline as well as showcase the successes and potential of future Latine actuarial leaders.
If you are interested in participating in the RLP, then please complete the application linked at the bottom of this page by the deadline outlined below.
*New applicants must be undergraduate students graduating on or after December 1, 2026; graduate students will only be permitted to stay in the program if they were admitted as undergraduate students.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Participation Period
- Acceptance into the RLP provides access to the program for a Participation Period spanning one Academic Year during which the applicant is accepted.
- The current application provides access for the 2025-2026 Participation Period (August 18, 2024 - June 12, 2025) upon acceptance.
Time Commitment & Engagement Metrics
- RLP Points can be earned by participating in various types of activities sponsored by OLA, its corporate sponsors, and/or industry/community partners. Please see the "Points" section below for more information on how points are
earned.
- While there are no mandatory events or specific time commitments per week, participants who do not meet the minimum points requirement of thirty (30) points by the end of the Participation Period will be removed from the RLP at the
end of the Participation Period.
- Participants who have been removed will be required to reapply should they seek future readmission. Removal from the program will not affect eligibility to participate in other OLA programs as this program is only intended to enhance
the OLA experience, not detract from it.
- Note that RLP participants can earn a maximum of 120 points during any Participation Period. Any points-earning activities occurring after the maximum is reached will not earn additional points, and points exchanges will not open up the opportunity to replenish this balance during the same Participation Period.
- RLP participants must earn all three OLAA badges - Action Plan Badge, Resume Badge, and Interview Badge. If an individual already has an internship secured following the Participation Period, they are exempt from the Interview Badge requirement.
Conduct & Professionalism
- RLP participants will frequently be viewed as representatives of OLA. Therefore, we expect RLP participants to conduct themselves professionally in any engagements hosted by OLA, its corporate sponsors, and industry/community partners. Any conduct
that does not positively represent OLA and/or harms the organization legally and/or financially will result in immediate removal from the program.

Incentives & Opportunities
- Engagement in the RLP will be measured by the number of points earned during the Participation Period. These points can be exchanged for incentives such as the following:
- Travel sponsorship awards to attend in-person events hosted by OLA, such as the OLA Avanza Conference in August 2026 (exact dates/location TBA)! In addition to offering unique networking opportunities exclusive to the RLP, this event will feature an OLA-exclusive in-person career fair!
- Smaller incentives will be provided to highly engaged participants, such as additional exam support for registration and materials beyond what is currently covered through OLA's regular Exam Support programs.
- Participants will be placed in small cohorts of five or less participants each (placed by expected graduation date and, if numbers allow, by geographic region). An actuarial professional will provide each cohort with mentorship/guidance as an RLP Coordinator and more personalized opportunities to engage as a group. All RLP cohorts and their coordinators will be provided with an RLP-specific online community on the OLA Member Portal to facilitate group communication.
- Finally, participation in the RLP comes with additional visibility within the profession by getting access to RLP-specific leadership development sessions as well as an additional set of mentors and networking opportunities
(supplemental to those provided via OLAA). OLA's Corporate Sponsors are very interested in meeting the profession's diverse future leadership, so having this program on a resume can set candidates apart during any hiring process!
