OVERVIEW
The web-based OLA Academy (OLAA) is a self-paced program that is designed to help Latine actuarial prospects gain the skills and confidence needed to land an actuarial position. Participants will have access to videos on topics such as resume writing, interviewing, networking, and designing an effective LinkedIn profile. Participants can also be matched up with volunteers (actuaries and/or recruiters) to put these new skills into practice through resume reviews, mock interviews, and mentorship.
OLAA participants who complete the requirements by specified deadline are eligible to participate in OLA's virtual career fairs and are eligible to apply to OLA's Travel Sponsorship program to attend industry conferences where they can network with fellow prospects, professionals, recruiters, and more! Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Do I need to reapply to OLA Academy (OLAA) if I was already enrolled in 2022? No, all 2022 OLA Academy Participants with an upgraded OLA Member Portal profile and a "Returning" OLAA status in their profile have been rolled over into the program for this year.
- How do I know if I have a "Returning" OLAA status in my OLA Member Portal Profile? Sign-in to your OLA Member Portal account, navigate to your profile, click on the "My Profile" button at the top left (screenshot 1 below), and scroll down to the "OLA Academy Participant Status" field in the "Additional Information" section. If your status begins with "Returning - ..." (as shown in screenshot 2 below), then you have been rolled over into the program for this year and do not need to reapply to OLA Academy.
- How do I access OLA Academy content and resources if I've been rolled over into the program? Sign-in to your OLA Member Portal account, and navigate to the OLA Academy Content Hub by clicking on this link: https://members.latinoactuaries.org/page/Content-Hub-OLA-Academy. The OLA Academy Content Hub is your one-stop-shop containing recommended steps to make the most of OLA Academy, links to the video lessons, instructions on getting resume reviews and mock interviews, eligibility requirements to apply for travel sponsorship programs, and more!
- The "Programs: OLA Academy" online community can be accessed by clicking on this link: https://members.latinoactuaries.org/group/PROG_OLAA. This will take you to the main page of the online community where you can network with other OLAA Coordinators and Participants using the forums.
- My OLAA status is "Returning", but I can't access the OLA Academy Content Hub. What's wrong?
- Ensure you are signed into your account/profile before you click on the link in FAQ #3 to access the Content Hub.
- If you're signed in and still cannot access the Content Hub after clicking on the link in FAQ #3, you likely have not yet upgraded your profile. Once you upgrade your profile (see FAQ #5 below for more information), you'll be able to access this Content Hub as well as other OLAA content and resources.
- How do I upgrade my OLA Member Portal profile? Follow the steps in FAQ #2 of this page: https://members.latinoactuaries.org/page/Profile-Upgrade-Info
