Peter Hernandez, ASA, MAAA

Cambia Health Solutions Actuarial Assistant

Peter is a Health Actuary at Cambia Health Solutions in Portland, Oregon. Currently he is on the Corporate Actuarial team that is responsible for estimating and reporting monthly claim reserves, financial analysis, and trend analysis. Peter is originally from Modesto, CA and graduated from California State University Stanislaus. Peter recently became an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries in May of 2024. In his spare time, Peter enjoys hiking, watching/playing football, making salsas, and enjoying some nice craft beer!

Sarah Peña, ASA, MAAA

Nationwide | Actuarial Consultant

Sarah is an Actuarial Consultant at Nationwide Financial. She started at Nationwide as a Summer Intern and went through the Actuarial Rotation Program after graduating from UCLA. She rotated through Annuity Pricing, Modeling, and Quantitative Risk Management (Hedging), and she has been in a non-rotating role on Annuity Valuation for two years. On Annuity Valuation, she focuses on setting and optimizing Nationwide’s reserves for traditional fixed and fixed indexed annuities.

Sarah became an Associate of the Society of Actuaries in 2022 and is waiting to hear back on her DMAC submission to become a Fellow (woo!). She worked at Nationwide’s headquarters in Columbus, Ohio for five years, and transitioned to working remotely with her recent move to New York City. For fun, Sarah enjoys being active (running, hiking, volleyball, tennis) as well as exploring new cuisines.

Lucy Ankenbauer, FSA, CFA

Principal Financial | Assistant Actuary

Lucy Ankenbauer is an actuary at Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, Iowa. She has five years of actuarial experience and currently works in Corporate Finance, with a focus on capital management and providing support to senior leaders in their financial and strategic decision-making process. In prior roles, she worked on the General Account Portfolio Management team, where she helped with asset allocation and Asset Liability Management, and on the Group Life and Disability pricing team, where she ran experience studies for multiple products and assisted with various pricing updates. She also leads the actuarial campus recruiting team for the company. Lucy is originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, and she graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2019. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and is a CFA Charterholder.

Felipe Valladares

Travelers | Senior Actuarial Consultant

Felipe is a fourth year participant in the Travelers Actuarial Leadership Development Rotational Program. During the 5 year program, he will have experiences in Business Insurance performing auto ratemaking work as well as a product focused role within a centralized pricing team. In his final rotation, Felipe will also work in Personal Insurance supporting a claim analytics team.

Felipe is originally from the Chicagoland suburbs; he grew up there and attended North Central College in Naperville, IL. Now, he is based out of Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he works on a hybrid schedule. Since joining Travelers fulltime, he’s enjoyed exploring all that the Twin Cities has to offer.
