Happy New Year! I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Director of Early Career Development. I am very excited to take on this new role within the OLA Board of Directors and help guide you all through your career journey. While
Reg has left an invaluable impact on the OLA community, especially our Early Careers programs, I hope you will all join me in congratulating her and wishing her all the best as she moves up in the world to become OLA's President for 2023! She'll still
be around for whatever you all may need, and please know that there is a whole team of us on the OLA Leadership team here to support you all!
With that being said, I'd like to echo Reg's introduction and welcome this year's OLA Academy (OLAA) Program Managers (PMs): Fernando Marin, Victoria Stanzel, and Trent Stastny-Perez! They will be helping me shape this year's programs and provide a strong
support system for all of you - our OLA prospects - so feel free to reach out to us at academy@latinoactuaries.org if you have any questions, need advice, or would simply like to chat about anything
else on your mind!
This Prospect Newsletter is provided to our OLA prospects, which mainly consist of our college/university students, recent graduates, and career changers, to keep you current with OLA's various activities, spotlight members of our community, and
connect you with career and development opportunities.
If you are not already on our distribution list, please register for an OLA Member Portal account at members.latinoactuaries.org to receive this newsletter and other important communications!
If you've graduated and/or secured your first full-time actuarial role, please reach out to our OLA Member Portal team at MemberPortal@latinoactuaries.org to get your account adjusted to a "Professional"

I look forward to meeting and working with you all, and thank you for your involvement in OLA!

OLA Rising Leaders Program Application is now Open
The Organization of Latino Actuaries (OLA) is excited to announce the launch of the OLA Rising Leaders Program (RLP) in January 2023! The RLP will be open to all members
currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree.
The RLP will provide a channel for highly proactive and involved OLA members to engage with other members, corporate sponsors, and other industry professionals in order to develop their leadership skills and build/maintain a sense of community
even after their completion of OLA Academy and obtaining their first actuarial role.
We hope that the RLP will become a source for OLA’s leadership pipeline as well as showcase the successes and potential of future Latine actuarial leaders.
The Drake Symposium is pleased to offer six diversity scholarships for the 2023 Symposium through the generous support of the American Academy of Actuaries. Current university students of under-represented backgrounds or members of the LGBTQI+

Scholarship recipients will have their travel, lodging, meals, and registration costs covered for the 2023 Drake Symposium up to $600. Scholarship winners will share a hotel room with one other recipient. Scholarship recipients must be available
to travel to Des Moines, Iowa from April 14-15, 2023.

Tell us a little about yourself: Some of my hobbies are going to the beach, playing volleyball, and reading.
How has OLA impacted your career? OLA has been an invaluable resource to me as I navigated entering the actuarial field. The career fairs were extremely helpful in the job search process because
they gave me the chance to speak directly to actuaries and recruiters at the companies I was interested in, and most of my offers came about through the career fairs. OLA was also kind enough to sponsor my attendance to the Gamma Iota Sigma Conference
in Charlotte, where I got to meet and connect with other actuarial students and professionals. Overall, OLA has been so helpful to me, and I would highly encourage other Latino actuarial students to take advantage of all the resources they provide.
Kaley is currently a student and will be starting as a full-time Actuarial Analyst at CNA after she graduates in May 2023!

Tell us a little about yourself: I'm an avid reader and I'm especially fond of mysteries, thrillers, romance, anything that can get a reaction out of me! A fun fact about me is I couldn't tell my right
from my left until I was 15 when I started learning how to drive!
How has OLA impacted your career? The Organization of Latino Actuaries has become one of my biggest support systems in helping me progress individually and professionally. OLA is united by one
goal: to create a growing and supporting community for students and professionals alike. Everyone is so supportive and you are encouraged to put yourself out there with so many different opportunities available from scholarships to professional development
opportunities. Getting involved with OLA was probably the best decision I've ever made in my academic career.
What are your professional development goals? I'm hoping to have at least two actuarial exams passed in the next two years!
We enjoy featuring and sharing the stories of members of the Latine actuarial community! If you have a nomination for a spotlight, please ask them to fill out this form with their information/headshot.
