Overview

The Organization of Latino Actuaries (OLA) invites actuaries, industry professionals, and thought leaders to submit proposals for presentations at our 2025 conference. This event will bring together Latino actuaries and allies for professional development, networking, and knowledge-sharing. This is your chance to contribute ideas that will engage and inspire the actuarial community.  Presentations can take the form of general sessions, breakout sessions, or interactive workshops, and we encourage a mix of technical and professional development topics.

We are seeking engaging and thought-provoking presentation topics that will provide valuable insights and spark meaningful discussions among actuarial professionals. Sessions can focus on:

  • Emerging trends in the actuarial field
  • Innovations in risk management, technology, and data analytics
  • Leadership, career development, and DEI initiatives
  • Case studies or real-world applications to our community

How to Participate

  • Please submit a separate response for each idea you propose.
  • The OLA Avanza Conference Committee will review all submissions and select the most relevant topics for this year’s program.

The event will take place at the Sheraton San Diego Resort, 1380 Harbor Island Dr, San Diego, CA 92101.

Call for Presentations - Proposal Submission Form

Thank you for your interest in presenting at the 2025 OLA Avanza Conference! We’re excited to hear your ideas and showcase groundbreaking topics that will inspire and educate Latino actuaries and allies.

General Session
- 50-75 Minutes
- Applies generally to the profession.
- Typically attended by all conference attendees.

Breakout Session
- 50 Minutes
- Dives deeper into specific topics with smaller group discussions.
- Provide opportunities for more interactive engagement with presenters.

Interactive Workshop
- 50 minutes
- Participant-centered and highly interactive
- Emphasizing hands-on learning and skill development.
- Provide attendees with practical tools and techniques they can immediately apply in their roles.




By submitting this form, you confirm that you understand and agree to the following conditions regarding the 2025 OLA Avanza Conference - Call for Presentations:

Submission Review & Selection – Submission of this form does not guarantee selection. All proposals will be reviewed by the OLA Avanza Conference Committee, and selected presenters will be notified accordingly. The committee reserves the right to accept, decline, or request modifications to proposed presentations.

Presentation Commitment – If selected, you (and any co-presenters) agree to participate in the conference and present your topic at the assigned time and format. Presenters must be available for pre-event coordination calls and adhere to all deadlines for submitting materials.

Speaker Costs & Logistics – The conference does not guarantee reimbursement for speaker-related expenses (e.g., travel, lodging, honorariums) unless explicitly agreed upon in writing.

A/V & Presentation Materials – Presenters are responsible for providing all necessary presentation materials, including slides and handouts. The conference team will make reasonable efforts to accommodate A/V needs but cannot guarantee custom setups.

Continuing Education (CE) Consideration – If a session is intended for SOA or CAS continuing education credit, presenters must comply with any necessary requirements for documentation, learning objectives, and attendance tracking as determined by the accrediting organizations.

Code of Conduct & Professionalism – All presenters must uphold OLA’s values of professionalism, inclusivity, and respect. OLA reserves the right to cancel or replace presentations that do not align with these principles.

Modifications & Cancellations – OLA reserves the right to modify session schedules, formats, or speakers as needed. In the event of an emergency or unforeseen cancellation, presenters must notify the conference team as soon as possible.
